Tasting Tip
Raise the glass towards the light & tilt to observe the color & texture. Then, part your lips & inhale deeply to take in the aroma. Nose the whiskey 2-3 times to note the full array and complexity of the aroma.

In Bourbon country, we use a technique called "The Kentucky Chew." As you sample, take in plenty of air to wake the whiskey up, and then move your jaw to gently roll it around your palate as you savor it.
Tasting Tip
Add one-two drops of water to "bloom" the spirit. The water causes certain flavor and aroma molecules to burst open, making them more available to your taste receptors.

If you like, add a small ice cube after you've tasted a whiskey neat, and note how the flavor evolves. As the temperature and concentration changes, it will affect the finish, which you'll feel moving around your mouth.
